Commemorating the Queen - Daniel Hamilton

FROM THE OFFICE OF DANIEL HAMILTON, GRAND DUKE OF AUSTRALIS

9 September 2022

I am sure that many will have heard the news already. Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II has regrettably passed away at the age of 96. For 70 years and 214 days, she reigned over the United Kingdom and the Commonwealth of Nations, longer than any other British Monarch. I was extremely saddened to learn of this news this morning.

For now, we must come together and remember Her Majesty. We must remember the positive impact that she had on the United Kingdom, the Commonwealth, and the world as a whole. I encourage leaders of other nations to declare periods of national mourning and/or commemoration, even if she was not a significant figure within your nation.

To the future, we must soon look. Charles III is now the Head of the Commonwealth, and King of the United Kingdom. I put my faith in him to continue the legacy that Queen Elizabeth II started, 70 years ago.

God Save the King.

Daniel Hamilton
